How it works
How to read these ad specs
Every placement has a fixed shape, and a creative whose ratio doesn't match gets cropped or padded to fit. Four ratios carry almost all the spend.
4:5 portrait — 1080 × 1350
The tallest shape Feed allows. Master here for Facebook and Instagram Feed, where most Meta budget still lands.
9:16 vertical — 1080 × 1920
Full-screen for Stories, Reels and TikTok — the one cut every vertical surface shares.
1:1 square — 1080 × 1080
The travels-everywhere fallback: displays anywhere, ideal nowhere. Keep one to back up square-only slots.
16:9 landscape — 1920 × 1080
The one ratio still built for in-stream video that plays inside other horizontal content.
Export at 1080 px on the short side at minimum. Meta now also accepts 1440-wide masters for sharper display on modern phones.
The mistake that wastes the most budget
Meta never rejects a mismatched creative — it silently adjusts it, which is worse, because you lose control of the crop.
⚡Wrong ratio in, worse ad out
A 9:16 video forced into Feed is cropped to 4:5 and your top-and-bottom framing disappears; a 1:1 square in Reels gets blurred background bars. The ad still spends — just on a worse cut.
Checking ratios before launch costs an export, not a reshoot. The validator above checks a whole batch at once; for single files the aspect ratio checker gives a per-placement verdict.
From correct ratios to one grouped ad
Right ratios are step one. At volume, the slow part is naming and grouping the placement variants so the launcher knows which files belong together.
- 1
Export both core ratios
Give every concept a 4:5 for Feed and a 9:16 for Stories, Reels and TikTok.
- 2
Name by placement token
Tag each file
4x5,9x16or1x1— or generate the names with the naming convention generator. - 3
Let the set group itself
uplads reads the token and merges matching cuts into one multi-placement ad — the vertical in Stories and Reels, the default in Feed — with no per-placement clicking.

Right ratios in, one multi-placement ad out
Once your set has a 4:5 and a 9:16 for each concept, naming and grouping them by hand across a 50-ad test is the tax. uplads reads the placement in every filename and ships one multi-placement ad per concept in a single bulk launch.
