Why it matters
Why a TikTok mockup matters
A TikTok ad is native-first - it has to feel like a video someone would watch anyway, wrapped in a full-screen vertical interface with an action column on the right and the handle, caption and call-to-action button stacked in the bottom-left. The CTA button is more prominent than on other platforms, and the caption competes directly with the creative. Judging that balance from a script is guesswork; a mockup makes it visible.
For approvals, a TikTok mockup answers the "does this feel like an ad or like content" question. It shows whether the hook survives the first second, whether the caption reads as native, and whether the call-to-action button pulls the eye without breaking the feel - all before any media spend is committed.
This generator draws neutral TikTok chrome - a generic action rail with plain icons and a simple CTA button - so no trademarked logos or sprites are embedded. Upload a vertical video or image, set the handle, caption and a call-to-action, and it renders full-screen live. Export a PNG when it is ready; your media is never uploaded.
⚡The one rule for 9:16
Keep your logo and key message inside the safe area. On a 1080 x 1920 frame, the TikTok interface covers about 130 px at the top, 480 px at the bottom, 44 px on the left and 140 px on the right, which leaves 896 × 1310 px for anything that has to be read (TikTok In-Feed / Spark ad UI, community-tested 2026). The safe zone checker draws those margins over your own clip.
TikTok In-Feed ad specs at a glance
What the mockup has to match before it becomes a real ad.
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 recommended (accepts 9:16, 1:1, 16:9) |
|---|---|
| Recommended size | 1080 x 1920 px |
| Minimum size | 540 x 960 px |
| Files | MP4, MOV, MPEG, 3GP, AVI · 500 MB video |
| Video length | 5 sec - 60 sec (9-15 sec recommended) |
| Primary text | 1-100 (caption, emojis allowed) |
| Headline | Display name 2-20 (no emojis) |
9:16 full-screen is the native format. Keep text clear of TikTok's right-side action rail and the bottom caption/CTA band so nothing important is covered. The full TikTok In-Feed spec lists every accepted ratio and file limit.
Common TikTok ad mistakes a mockup catches
- Uploading a still image. TikTok In-Feed ads take video only: MP4, MOV, MPEG, 3GP or AVI up to 500 MB, 5 to 60 seconds long, 9 to 15 seconds recommended.
- Designing to the organic layout. In ads the caption, Sponsored label and CTA card push the covered band at the bottom to about 480 px, against about 320 px on an organic post.
- Long captions and decorated display names. The caption takes 1 to 100 characters, the display name 2 to 20 characters and no emojis.
