How to connect Google Drive to import creatives

Last updated June 10, 2026

Connecting Google Drive lets you pull ad creatives straight from Drive into a launch — no downloading to your computer first. Once linked, a "Pick from Google Drive" option appears in the launch wizard's media step, opening Google's own file picker so you can grab exactly the files you want.

Connect Google Drive in Configuration

  1. Open Configuration from the dashboard navigation.
  2. Select the Connections section. It groups your Meta, cloud storage, Slack, and ClickUp links.
  3. Find the Cloud connections card and the Google Drive row.
  4. Click Connect on that row.
  5. Google's sign-in screen opens. Choose the Google account that holds your creatives and approve the requested access.

After you approve, you're returned to the Connections page and the Google Drive row flips to Connected, showing the email of the account you linked.

If you'd rather link Dropbox instead (or as well), see How to connect Dropbox to import creatives.

Connections are per user, not per workspace

Cloud connections are tied to your user account, not the whole workspace. Each team member links their own Google Drive, and the picker only ever sees the files in the account you authorized. The Connected label shows the exact Google email you linked so you can confirm you signed in with the right account.

If your role doesn't include configuration-edit permission, the Connections section is read-only and the Connect button won't take effect — see Why is configuration greyed out or read-only for me?.

Why uplads uses Google's Picker and the drive.file scope

When you import, uplads opens Google's official Picker — the same file browser you see in Google's own products. We deliberately request only the narrow drive.file scope, which grants access to just the specific files you select in the Picker and nothing else in your Drive.

This matters for two reasons:

  • Privacy — uplads can never read or list your wider Drive. It only ever touches the individual files you hand it through the Picker.
  • No heavy verification — the broader "see all of Drive" scopes require Google's full app-verification review. The per-file scope keeps the connection lightweight and fast to set up.

uplads also requests basic profile info (your email) purely so it can display which account is connected on the card.

What connecting enables in the launch wizard

Once Google Drive is connected, the media step of the bulk launch wizard gains a Pick from Google Drive action. Clicking it opens the Picker, where you can multi-select images and videos. The files you choose are streamed in for the launch.

A few things to know about Drive-sourced creatives:

  • uplads links the file rather than storing a permanent copy. If you delete or move that file in Drive, the linked asset can fail at launch time — the media library flags Drive-sourced assets with a Drive badge so they're easy to spot.
  • Thumbnail previews in the Picker render best when your workspace has the Picker API key configured; file selection works either way.

Disconnecting Google Drive to revoke access

To unlink Drive, return to Configuration → Connections, find the Google Drive row, and click Disconnect. This does two things:

  1. Removes the stored connection from uplads.
  2. Revokes the token with Google, so uplads' per-file access is withdrawn on Google's side too.

After disconnecting, the row shows Not connected and the Pick from Google Drive option disappears from the wizard until you reconnect. You can reconnect at any time by clicking Connect again — you'll go through Google's consent screen once more.
