How to launch ads from files on your computer
Last updated June 10, 2026
This is the most common way to launch with uplads: drag the image and video files you already have on your computer straight into the launch wizard, choose where they should run, add your copy, and create every ad in one go. The wizard walks you through five steps — Creatives, Targeting, Text, Review, and Launch — and you can move on to the next step before your uploads have even finished.
Before you start, make sure your Meta account is connected. See How to connect your Meta (Facebook & Instagram) account. For a wider tour of the steps, read Understanding the bulk launch wizard steps.
Upload creatives from your computer
Open the launch wizard. On the first step you'll see Choose a source with three tabs: Media Library, Existing Ads, and Partnership / Spark. To launch local files, stay on the Media Library tab (it's selected by default).
- Use the uploader at the top of the tab to add files. Drag and drop them onto the upload area, or click it to open your file picker and select multiple images and videos at once.
- Each file uploads directly from your browser, so large videos don't slow down the rest of the app. As each upload finishes it's automatically selected and added to your launch.
- You don't have to wait. You can keep adding files or click Continue and move ahead — uploads keep running in the background and each one is added to your launch as it lands. The Continue button even shows a count like Continue (3 still uploading) so you always know what's in flight.
Already have files in the cloud? You can pull them in from the same tab instead — see How to import creatives from Dropbox and How to import creatives from Google Drive.
Select which creatives to include
Everything you've ever uploaded lives in the Media Library grid below the uploader. Newly uploaded files are selected automatically, but you can fine-tune the selection:
- Click a tile to select or deselect a single creative.
- Shift-click a second tile to select a whole range at once.
- Use the grid's select and search controls to manage larger libraries — see How to select, search and manage creatives in the media library.
The Continue button reflects your selection (for example Continue with 8 creatives). You need at least one creative selected — or at least one upload still in progress — to move on.
Pick a Page, campaign and ad sets
The Targeting step is where you tell Meta where these ads should run:
- Choose the Facebook Page (and optionally an Instagram account) the ads will publish from. uplads remembers your last choice as a default.
- Pick the campaign the ads belong to.
- Select one or more ad sets inside that campaign. Your creatives are fanned out across every ad set you tick, so 8 creatives across 3 ad sets becomes 24 ads.
Need somewhere new to put them? You can create a campaign or ad set on the spot — see How to create a campaign or ad set during launch — or duplicate an ad set with the same targeting.
Add your copy in the Text step
The Text step is where you write the primary text, headlines, description, destination URL, and call-to-action that appear on every ad. See How to write ad copy, URLs and CTAs for the full breakdown, plus How to generate ad copy with AI and How to save and reuse ad copy templates.
Review names and launch
On the Review step, check the auto-generated ad names, edit any that need it, and confirm the plan. See How to review and edit ad names before launch.
The final Launch step shows exactly what's about to happen, for example 8 ads × 3 ad sets = 24 ads will be created. From here you can:
- Schedule activation — toggle this on to launch the ads paused now and have uplads flip them live at a date and time you pick (interpreted in your ad account's timezone). See How to set ad status and schedule a launch.
- Confirm & Launch — creates every ad. Uploads to Meta, video processing, and ad creation run in the background, and a live progress list shows each creative as it moves from Uploading… to Creating ads… to live.
Confirm your ads went live
When the run finishes you'll see a summary — All ads launched successfully! or a count of how many succeeded and failed. If anything failed, a Retry failed button reruns just those ads. To check the results:
- Click View launch details to open the full per-ad breakdown. See How to track launch progress and read results.
- Click Open in Meta Ads Manager to jump straight to your new ad sets inside Meta, with them pre-selected.
If your ads don't appear in Meta, check Why don't my launched ads appear in Meta Ads Manager? or Why did my launch fail and how do I fix it?. And don't worry about losing your place — uplads auto-saves drafts as you work, so you can resume a launch any time.
