How to reauthorize or disconnect your Meta account

Last updated June 10, 2026

Meta access tokens don't last forever. When yours expires, uplads can no longer launch ads or pull data from your account until you reauthorize. This article shows how to spot an expired token, reconnect in one click, and how to fully disconnect Meta if you need to revoke uplads' access.

Everything happens in the Meta Connection card under Configuration → Connections. If you haven't connected Meta yet, start with How to connect your Meta account instead.

How to tell if your Meta token has expired

Open Configuration, go to the Connections section, and find the Meta Connection card. It shows three details about your connection:

  • Account — the Facebook/Instagram account name on the connection
  • Connected — the date you first authorized uplads
  • Token expires — the expiry date, or the word Expired in red

When the token is still valid, the expiry date shows normally. When it has lapsed, the Token expires value reads Expired in red, and a red notice appears: "Your token has expired. Please reauthorize to continue using the platform."

If you're seeing launch failures or empty data in the ads manager, an expired token is one of the first things to check. For other connection problems, see Why is my Meta account not connecting?.

Reauthorizing refreshes your token without removing the connection — your account stays linked and your settings are preserved.

  1. In the Meta Connection card, click Reauthorize. When your token is expired, this button is highlighted as the primary action.
  2. You'll be redirected to Facebook's login and permissions screen.
  3. Confirm the same permissions you granted originally and complete the flow.
  4. uplads returns you to Configuration with a fresh token and an updated Token expires date.

You can click Reauthorize at any time, even before the token expires — for example, if you need to re-grant a permission or switch which Pages and ad accounts uplads can see.

Disconnecting Meta and confirming the action

Disconnecting removes the link between uplads and your Meta account. To prevent accidental clicks, the card uses a two-step confirm.

  1. In the Meta Connection card, click Disconnect.
  2. The button is replaced by Confirm Disconnect and a Cancel button.
  3. Click Confirm Disconnect to complete the disconnect, or Cancel to back out with no changes.

After a successful disconnect, uplads sends you back to your dashboard.

What disconnecting does to launches and ads manager

Disconnecting revokes uplads' stored access to your Meta account. While disconnected:

  • You can't start new launches to Meta, and the bulk launch wizard won't be able to load your Pages, campaigns or ad sets.
  • The ads manager can no longer fetch live data, edit ads, or run automated rules against Meta.
  • Ads you already launched are not affected. They continue running in Meta exactly as before — disconnecting only removes uplads' access, it does not pause, delete, or change any ad.

If you only need a fresh token (not a full removal), use Reauthorize instead of disconnecting.

Reconnecting after disconnect

Reconnecting is the same as a first-time connection:

  1. Go to Configuration → Connections.
  2. In the Meta Connection card, start the connect flow and sign in to Facebook.
  3. Grant the requested permissions to relink your account.

Once reconnected, your Pages, campaigns and ad sets become available again in the launch wizard and ads manager. For the full walkthrough and the permissions uplads asks for, see How to connect your Meta account.
