How to configure Meta creative enhancements
Last updated June 10, 2026
Meta's creative enhancements are the automatic tweaks Meta can apply to your ads at delivery — cropping for each placement, brightening images, generating text variations, adding overlays and more. uplads lets you decide, once per ad account, exactly which of these Meta should be allowed to use, so every launch starts from your preferred baseline instead of Meta's defaults.
You set this up on the Creative Enhancements card in your account settings. If you haven't connected Meta yet, do that first: see How to connect your Meta account.
Where to find the settings
Open Configuration, go to the Account area, and find the Creative Enhancements card. The card is collapsed by default — click its title (or the chevron) to expand the full set of controls. The header always shows a status line and a master switch so you can see the current state without expanding.
These settings are saved per ad account. Until you save once, the status reads "Save to override Meta defaults for this ad account" — meaning Meta's own defaults still apply.
Account-level modes: all on, all off, or custom
The master switch in the card header controls the high-level mode:
- On — enhancements are active in custom mode. Every individual feature you've toggled is respected. This is the default starting point, with all features opted in.
- Off — sets the account to all off. Every enhancement is opted out and the per-format toggles are greyed out, so Meta applies none of them. The status line reads "All enhancements are disabled."
Switching the master back on restores the last custom configuration you had, rather than blanking your choices — so you can flip everything off temporarily and get your exact setup back. To save any change, click Save; a green "Saved" confirmation appears when it lands.
Per-group toggles for images, videos and carousel
When the card is expanded and the mode is on, you'll see three columns of toggles — one each for Images, Videos and Carousel. Each format carries the full list of enhancement features, and you control them independently. That means you can, for example, allow image touch-ups and auto-crop on still images while opting videos out of auto-cropping, all in the same account.
To customize a format:
- Expand the Creative Enhancements card.
- Find the column for the format you want — Images, Videos or Carousel.
- Toggle individual features on (opt in) or off (opt out). Hover the info icon next to a feature for its description.
- Click Save.
Flipping any individual toggle automatically puts the account into custom mode, so your per-format choices are what gets used at launch.
Multi-Advertiser Ads enrollment
Below the format columns is a separate Multi-Advertiser Ads control. Multi-advertiser ads let Meta show your ad alongside other advertisers' ads in a single unit (for example, in a shopping-style carousel). You choose one of three options:
- Default — use Meta's default behavior (currently opt-in). uplads sends no explicit preference.
- Opt In — explicitly enroll your ads in multi-advertiser units.
- Opt Out — explicitly keep your ads out of multi-advertiser units.
This setting shares the same Save button as the enhancement toggles, so one save commits both your enhancement choices and your multi-advertiser preference for the account.
Overriding enhancements for a single launch
The account-level configuration is the baseline that every launch inherits, so you usually don't need to think about enhancements again once it's set. Your per-format choices flow into each ad's creative automatically when you launch through the bulk launch wizard.
Two things to know about how launches apply your settings:
- Per-format matching is automatic. An image creative picks up your Images toggles, a video uses Videos, and a carousel uses Carousel — you don't pick a format manually.
- Some enhancements are stripped when they're incompatible. If a creative pins specific media and text to each placement (uplads' multi-placement / merged creatives), Meta rejects text generation on it. uplads detects this and quietly opts that one feature out for that creative so the launch still succeeds — the rest of your choices are untouched. You don't need to do anything; this happens behind the scenes.
If you want a launch to behave differently from your account baseline, change the account settings before launching, run the launch, then change them back. There is no separate per-launch enhancements panel — the account card is the single source of truth.
Understanding the 70+ Meta enhancement features
uplads exposes Meta's full catalog of creative enhancement features — more than 70 of them — rather than the handful most tools surface. These map directly to Meta's creative_features_spec and span several categories:
- Image — touch-ups, auto-crop, brightness and contrast, background generation, uncrop/expand, animation, templates.
- Video — auto-crop, filtering, highlights and effects, video-to-image, uncrop/expand.
- Text — text improvements, text generation, dynamic descriptions, headline extraction, translations and overlay translations.
- Layout and format — adapt to placement, format automation, carousel-to-video, add details to the ad layout, site links and catalog items.
- Calls to action — enhance CTA and generate call-to-action.
Each feature is sent to Meta as either opt in or opt out, exactly reflecting your toggles. You don't have to understand every one — leaving the account on with all features enabled is a sensible default, and you can selectively opt out of any you don't want. Use the info tooltips next to each toggle when you're unsure what a specific feature does.
